Spiritual Preparation

Fear is a necessary and natural, useful instinctive tool of survival. It makes the body inject adrenalin into the bloodstream to get us moving as fast as we can away from danger or make us stronger to fight off an attack. That’s a good fear experience. The bad kind of experience is when we are not prepared to harness fear to use it appropriately.

I’m going to cover some tools in this article that if practiced, will aid you in harnessing your fear to your advantage in everyday handling of stress, and in a very serious life-threatening situation. These tools may not be anything you have ever heard of, thought of, and you may think they are a load of crap. Why not try them prior to any extreme judgment, as they have been used by many spiritual, military, and recovery programs for thousands of years.

When was the last time the Americas saw a national disaster? Not a localized disaster, but one that affected the entire area of North America. It’s been a long time. There are people that live in areas that are in the path of hurricanes, tornadoes, and heavy snowfall that are possible more prepared than others on a regular basis or seasonally, but the majority of people living in North America are dependent on chain stores and government.

Some of us have seen tough times in our lives in some degree, and have had to learn a diversity of survival techniques. Financial ones, street survival ones, war-zone ones, and relationships/family ones. Survival is everywhere in life. I have personally seen a great diversity of it, and had many failures personally, professionally, and physically to survive and climb out of in many diverse ways. I continue to observe the world around me and learn everything I can about survival in many areas of life, be it within so-called civilization or in the wilds.

No matter what your beliefs, practice them daily. Hopefully they are beliefs of good and righteousness towards others and yourself. Meditate on your beliefs at least 20 minutes per day. If you practice them in every aspect of your life, then you are doing this all day long. For me, spiritually is active. It is in everything I do. I do my best to stay in service of myself and others. If I am not taking care of myself mentally and physically, then I limit my ability to be of service to others. If I do not practice my skills of survival, then I am not preparing to help myself and others around me.

For me, spirituality is a constant positive action and mindset, free from judgment and resentment, always moving forward. The past is only useful to learn from and offer others to show them my own humility, or to humble myself to my own imperfection. I must stay in the reward of giving of myself at all times, or all other deadly influences have room to grow and prosper in my heart, mind, and spirit.
